Intimate Weddings & Elopements
I want you to soak up every feel good moment of this day. Then I want to turn those moments into art so you can return to them again and again. Here’s how we do it:
- Learning your story. Once we decide to work together, I’ll send a questionnaire to learn your story and collect all the important details for your day. Completing it will help both of us plan and prepare so your day flows as smoothly as possible. What you share will also help me personalize your experience and create art that is authentic and meaningful to you.
- Creating space to be present. Your wedding day is more than a photo shoot. It’s an experience full of joy, love, connection, and meaning, and I want you to be fully present for it. My goal is to enhance your experience, not distract you from it. I’ll strive to support you in whatever way I can while keeping your attention on the things that matter most. My job is to preserve all the feel-good moments and memories of the day. Your job is to experience them.
- Letting the moments unfold. For portrait sessions, I’ll guide you through different interactions designed to create genuine, feel-good moments. We’ll lean into playfulness, laughter, physical affection, and movement, focusing your attention on each other instead of the camera. When I see a moment unfolding, I’ll step back and let it happen so I can capture all the magic I see there. Outside of portrait sessions, I’ll take a more documentary approach—observing, anticipating, and artfully preserving the moments, connections, and details that make your day yours.
The Details:
Who: I’m best suited for laid-back, outdoorsy couples who are planning an intimate wedding, elopement, or Michigan destination wedding with a guest list of 50 or fewer.
Where: The Greater Grand Rapids area is my home base, but I’m willing to travel, so let’s chat about your venue and see if we can make it work! Please note: I primarily use natural light for my photography, so I currently only work at outdoor venues.
When: As a natural light photographer, my coverage window runs from shortly after sunrise to shortly before sunset. Packages include three coverage options: four hours, six hours, and eight hours. (Planning a micro-wedding for under four hours? Send me a message!)
What’s most important to me is your happiness! If we start a conversation and I believe you would be better served by another photographer, I will absolutely tell you. Here are a few signs I might not be the right photographer for you:
- You have a large bridal party or family and want lots of large group photos! My personality and photography style are best suited to small, intimate gatherings, so I limit group photos to 12 individuals and guest lists to 50 individuals.
- You are planning an indoor ceremony.
- You’re looking for a photographer that can capture the events of the day as well as the after-party. Again, gotta have that sunlight! If nightlife photography is important to you, this is where we part ways.
