Couples
(Proposals, Engagements, and Just Because)
I want your couples session to feel like a one-of-a-kind date. I want to bring your attention to the connection you share with your partner and let it light you up. I want you to feel so saturated in love that you absolutely glow. Then I want to take your picture. Here’s how it works:
- Learning your story. Answering a short questionnaire prior to your session will allow me to personalize your experience and create art that is authentic and meaningful to you.
- Meeting you where you are. At the start of your session, we’ll check in and get a feel for everyone’s mood and energy. Maybe you’re excited and ready to go. Maybe you’re more reserved or shy and need some time to warm up. Wherever you’re at, that’s okay! I’ll adjust my approach accordingly and strive to create a warm and supportive space. The goal is for you to feel comfortable enough to relax, let down your guard, and enjoy your time together. There’s no need to perform or censor. Just being you is enough.
- A feel good experience. Throughout the session, I’ll guide you through different interactions designed to create genuine, feel-good moments. We’ll lean into playfulness, laughter, physical affection, and movement, focusing your attention on each other instead of the camera. When I see a moment unfolding, I’ll step back and let it happen so I can capture all the magic I see there.
The Details:
Who: I’m best suited for laid-back couples who are comfortable getting close and at least a little playful.
Where: Location is something we’ll decide on together. I primarily work outdoors and a scenic, natural area is my preference. But if there’s a specific location that’s meaningful to you, I’m all ears! Cozy in-home sessions are an option when there’s enough window light. (Please note: you do not need a Pinterest-perfect space for an in-home session!)
When: For outdoor sessions, I aim for golden hour, when the light is soft and flattering. For in-home sessions, the timing simply depends on when there’s enough light coming through those windows, which I will help you determine. The actual session will last around 60--90 minutes (flexible session times allow for outfit changes and transitions between locations).
What’s most important to me is your happiness! If we start a conversation and I believe you would be better served by another photographer, I will absolutely tell you. Here are a few signs I might not be the right photographer for you:
- You and your partner absolutely adore each other, but physical affection isn’t a natural way for you to express it.
- You’re looking for a more traditional portrait session with everyone posed and smiling at the camera.
- You want to be in and out as quickly as possible. My sessions are intentionally slower-paced, giving us time to connect, settle in, and let genuine moments unfold.
